Put Your Vision Board on Your TV

No laptop left casting, no USB stick of exported images. Pair the television once with a 6-character code and your board plays there — full screen, in motion, with music.

The workarounds, and why they stop

Search for this today and you get the same four answers: cast from a laptop and leave the laptop open, export a JPEG to a USB stick and use the television photo viewer, publish a Google Slides deck to the web and hope the Wi-Fi holds, or pay per screen for signage software built for restaurant menus.

Each one works for an evening. None survives a month, because each depends on a device you need for something else, or on a file you have to rebuild by hand every time a goal changes.

How pairing actually works

Open Vida Visions on the television — the app from Google Play on a Google TV or Android TV, the app from the Amazon Appstore on a Fire TV, the TV’s own browser at vidavisions.com/tv, or a stick or player from us that you leave plugged in behind it. The screen shows a 6-character code. Type that code once on your phone and the television is paired to your board.

After that the phone can go back in your pocket. The screen holds the pairing itself, and when you change a goal the television changes with it, because it is not showing a file. It is showing your live board.

What it looks like once it is up

Full-screen photography and video with slow cinematic motion, your goals and affirmations placed in the corners, background music chosen per area of your life, and a celebration on screen the moment you mark something accomplished.

It is what a television could be doing during all the hours it would otherwise sit black.

Common questions

Do I need a smart TV?

No — but the browser on the screen must be from roughly late 2022 or newer. On a television it is the browser’s age that matters, not the set’s: built-in smart-TV browsers often stop being updated long before the TV stops working. A Fire TV stick or a Google TV device is the reliable answer: install the Vida Visions app from the Amazon Appstore or Google Play, or use a stick or player from us. On a Fire TV stick or player from us, the board comes back by itself after a power cut. If you installed the app yourself from the Amazon Appstore or Google Play, open the Vida Visions tile once and the board is still paired. Any computer on an HDMI cable also works.

Is there a TV app?

Yes. Vida Visions is on Google Play for Google TV and Android TV, and on the Amazon Appstore for Fire TV. Install it on the TV, open it, and pair with the code on screen. A TV without either store can open vidavisions.com/tv in its browser, and we also ship sticks and players with the app already on them.

Does it work on an Apple TV?

Not on its own. Apple has never allowed a real web browser on Apple TV — tvOS ships without one, and App Store apps have no way to render a web page on the device at all. The browser apps sold for it work around that by mirroring from your iPhone or streaming from a server, so they can only show your board while another device stays on and connected, which is the babysitting that pairing exists to remove. If an Apple TV is what is plugged into your television, add an inexpensive Fire TV stick on another HDMI input.

Does my phone or laptop have to stay on?

No. The television holds the pairing itself. Once it is paired you can leave the room, close your laptop and go to work, and the board keeps playing.

What happens when I change my board?

The television updates within seconds. It is displaying your live board rather than a copy, so an edit made on your phone appears on every paired screen.

Can I use more than one screen?

Yes. Pair as many screens as your plan allows, and point different screens at different boards — a family board in the kitchen, your own in the office.
